IFlyOnline must adjust/correct their Bonus Bank accordingly.

The determining factor in this ruling was the landing weight: The landing weight of 900.4 lbs was 179.6 lbs under the required minimum even if the extra fuel weight was considered as cargo weight.

IFlyOnline TKPK to TNCM

As the aircraft weight calculations, according to the Duenna, show that a substantial part of the weight attributed to the electrics assemblies and/or pilot never left TKPK, the Committee determines that this flight does not meet the intent or requirement for a valid Bonus Flight. IFlyOnline must adjust/correct their Bonus Bank accordingly.

AlphaSim B-2 Spirit

The use of AlphaSim's B-2 Spirit has been challenged on the grounds that the aircraft is no longer available to the public.
The appeal on the eligibility of the AlphaSim B-2 Spirit is denied. The aircraft remains eligible for the 2011 race. It meets the requirement to be "available at least two weeks" before the race start.

The appeal presents an issue which the committee has not considered previously. That of whether or not an aircraft becomes ineligible for the race if it is removed from wide distribution - whether due to a business closure, a company ending a product line, an author removing his files from public libraries, a major public library crash, etc. At this time we are unwilling to require that pilots confirm the continued availability of aircraft they already own and plan to use in the race.

For this year's race, we will not consider challenges to a previously eligible aircraft due to changes which have made the aircraft unavailable for new purchase/ download at this time.

The issue of discontinued aircraft is one which the committee and the teams will need to discuss in detail in the coming year.

Flightsim.com SBSL-SBFN

The pilot reported a Duenna glitch that resulted in a reported refuelling mid-flight. The Committee has investigated and determined that this was indeed a glitch; no penalty will be assessed and the leg is validated.

Avsim.com Departures from SBSL and DAAT

Avsim.com used a 747-8X on these flights. Fewer than 10 models of this aircraft are in service, making it ineligible for use in the race. The 747-8X used by Avsim, however, is simply the (legal) PMDG 747-400 with a slightly different visual model, and no difference in flying characteristics.

We find that these two flights stem from the same mistake, that there was no intention to evade the rules, and that no gain was achieved. Accordingly we assess a 15-minute penalty for the mistake.

iFlyOnline VNNG-VEBS

For their VNNG-VEBS leg, Team iFlyOnline failed to post the appropriate authentication on their forum within the allotted one hour time period. Further investigation shows that the leg was tracked by the Duenna tracker system and the formal records there confirm that the leg was completed as claimed. On prompting, a few hours late, the team produced the usual authentication material. Thus, the Committee finds that the leg was completed exactly as expected but that the team erred in not posting promptly. The formal rules state that a failure to post an authentication means that that leg, and all subsequent legs, are invalidated. This rule guards against the possibility of false data. In this case, the Committee finds that the evidence is overwhelming that the leg was legal and that the violation was one of recording the material. Accordingly, team iFlyOnline incurs a 15 minute penalty that accords with a similar case in previous years. Repeated failures are likely to earn more substantial penalties. Teams are reminded that they have the first obligation to confirm proper posting of their flights before errors are detected by outsiders.

Avsim PAGA-PATA

Avsim's authentication posting was delayed beyond the allowed one hour period. We apply the same 15-minute penalty assessed to iFlyOnline on their VNNG-VEBS leg.

Race Forums

Check each team's forum for the latest baton transfers, flight authentications, planning, and chitchat among racers.

AVSIM RTWR Forum:

http://forum.avsim.net/forum/227-avsims-round-the-world-race-forum/

AVSIM Backup Forum:

http://www.avsimrtwr.freeforums.org/

FlightSim.com Multiplayer Forum:

http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/forumdisplay.php?f=10

iFlyOnline.com Race Forum:

http://www.iflyonline.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=168&jfile=viewforum.php&f=90

Sim-Outhouse Around the World Race Forum:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?6-Around-The-World-Race-Multiplayer-Events

Sim-Outhouse Backup Forum:

http://www.sim-outhouse.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?8-Around-the-World-Race

Flight Simulator Around-The-World Race Official Website - Contact Matt Smith with any questions.
